TEEN ADVISORY GROUP

FAIRPORT HARBOR PUBLIC LIBRARY 

VISION

The Teen Advisory Group of Fairport Harbor Public Library strives to be an integral part of the Fairport Harbor community by showing teens how to become productive members of society, encourage individuality and develop interests through the promotion of library use and reading in Fairport Harbor.

MISSION

Our mission is to increase awareness of Fairport Harbor Public Library’s resources and to promote the use of those resources throughout the community.  We also aim to develop awareness in our growing community that Fairport Harbor Public Library provides a safe and constructive atmosphere of mutual respect and acceptance
regardless of who you are or what you believe. 

OBJECTIVES

The Teen Advisory Group will volunteer in and out of the library.  We will promote library use in the community.
We understand that teens can be active participants in the way the community views the library. 

STRATEGIES

We will:

  • Promote reading and library use
  • Recruit Teen Advisory Group members
  • Plan and implement programming
  • Read, review and/or recommend materials
  • Attend Teen Advisory Group meetings
  • Volunteer in the library and the community

TEEN ADVISORY GROUP

Fairport Harbor Public Library 

Membership is by invitation of the Youth Services Librarian of Fairport Harbor Public Library.  The Librarian invites teens (grades 7 through 12) that show an interest in the library and its activities and resources.  Sixth grade students will participate in events as determined by the Teen Advisory Group and the Youth Services Librarian. 

TAG members are encouraged to introduce friends to the library and to the youth services librarian.  Recommendations for membership are welcome. 

Membership will be reviewed at the annual meeting.

Criteria for TAG membership

 

Each member MUST:

  • Use the library appropriately
  • Attend a minimum of 3 regular meetings
  • Attend the annual meeting.
 

In addition TAG members are expected to participate in at least three of the following:

  • Volunteer in the library a minimum of 10 hours annually
  • Participate in at least 2 TAG sponsored community events
  • Read, review and recommend print and non-print materials
  • Have a valid library card
